FAQ

Frequently asked questions!

Why do you require a deposit?

All appointments require a deposit that not only protects me as an artist but it also protects you as the client. It ensures that that spot is reserved for you and for you only. It also reduces the number of last minute cancellations and no shows for me. The deposit acts as a cancellation fee for the time I lose when a client doesn't show up where I could have booked in another client.

Why does bridal makeup cost more?

Bridal makeup requires a significant amount of planning and preparation. I want your makeup to be perfect so I will spend more time asking you questions. I will also be there for as long as required to touch up your makeup. You want your bridal makeup to be perfect so I will spend the time doing just that. The cost reflects the time I spend doing your makeup and the additional time I spend consulting with you.

Why do you charge so much for makeup?

My costs are not just inclusive of the wage I pay myself. It includes the costs of all of the products I use and restocking, marketing, admin, the time and money I have spent on improving myself as an artist, cleaning my equipment and also the application of the makeup itself.

When running a business there are so many costs which you don't see as a client, which is why makeup artists do need to charge a lot in order to make profit and cover their outgoing expenses.

Why do you charge so much for travel?

A travel fee covers many things for me including petrol, insurance, wear and tear of my vehicle and also my time. It also covers the time it takes to pack and unpack my equipment. If I were to spend 30 minutes travelling to and from a client, that is a client I therefore miss out on due to travel.
